Wing is a New Zealand and Australian qualified Patent Attorney specialising in chemistry based technologies, pharmaceuticals and agri-tech. He assists clients to own and leverage their intellectual property – particularly in relation to patents and design registrations.

He has significant experience advising on patentability, freedom to operate (FTO) and infringement. Wing regularly prepares new patent applications, advises clients through the examination process (patent prosecution) including managing the prosecution of foreign patent families and defending patent applications against oppositions by third parties.

Wing is part of James & Wells’ Life Sciences team and works with companies from a variety of industries from individual and SMEs, to research organisations such as universities, to one of the world’s leading producers and suppliers of animal health products. Wing is motivated by helping clients take their ideas to market and creating IP strategies tailored to meet his clients' individual unique business objectives.

Outside of work, Wing is a family man who loves spending time with his two young sons and catching up with friends and family.

Wing has a thorough understanding of the intellectual property registration process due to his time working at the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand (IPONZ) as a Patent Examiner.

He has practical experience working in an analytical laboratory environment in a previous role as a laboratory analyst and understands the unique challenges associated with chemical extraction, testing and analysis.

Recent experience includes defending a patent for an animal health related technology in opposition proceedings in Australia and which involved all facets of the opposition process including an interlocutory hearing on a Notice to Produce issue.
