Kate Wilson is a former founding partner of James & Wells where she became established as an internationally acclaimed IP strategy advisor, working with many of New Zealand\u2019s iconic and innovative organisations. Since stepping down from the James & Wells partnership in 2015, Wilson has established several businesses, been appointed to a number of corporate boards and established a thriving IP strategy practice.<\/p>\n
Wilson and James & Wells have now again joined forces and Wilson will provide strategic IP and business advice as a consultant. With Wilson\u2019s expertise and reputation as a renowned IP strategist, James & Wells\u2019 IP advisory team gains a leading light to further enhance their cutting-edge advice.<\/p>\n

However, Wilson points out that the current uncertain economic situation means businesses need to think smarter than ever: \u201cNot only will business owners need to think more strategically, they will also be compelled to think creatively, as traditional business models become less relevant and other markets should be considered.\u201d<\/p>\n
A university-qualified physicist and chemist, Wilson\u2019s IP career has given her experience across an array of technologies and industries, and all types of intangible asset considerations are incorporated into her recommendations. As an example, one of her less conventional strategies was advising in relation to a Netflix series. In her advice, Wilson likes to think creatively and is comfortable with using her real-world business experience to challenge established practices to help clients achieve their goals.<\/p>\n
Earlier this week Wilson was inducted into The New Zealand Hall of Fame for Women Entrepreneurs. The Hall of Fame recognises trailblazers who have had a significant impact on local and global economies and generously shared their wisdom and resources with others.<\/p>\n
