James & Wells Celebrates Newly Qualified Patent Attorney

James & Wells are delighted to announce that Hazell Fernandez has qualified as a Patent Attorney.

Joining the patents team in 2017, Auckland-based Hazell has a degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Auckland. She specialises in mechanical and electrical technologies, particularly medical technology. Hazell’s work focuses on patent prosecution, drafting patent specifications and patent-related research.

Jonathan Lucas, Partner, said: “We are thrilled that Hazell has qualified as a Patent Attorney. Hazell is an integral member of the patents team. She has particularly strong expertise in medical technology and she adds a lot of value to our clients through her diligence and insights. Hazell has also recently obtained a Master of Laws through Victoria University of Wellington.

Hazell said: “I’m really excited to have qualified as a Patent Attorney. I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead and continuing to learn and grow in my new role.”
