James & Wells announce new partner, Mark Williams

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Williams as a Partner to lead our Australian trade mark practice.

Mark is an Australian lawyer and Registered Australian Trade Mark Attorney, with nearly 30-years’ of experience in IP firms, and almost 20-years’ of trade mark experience with Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick and then Allens in Melbourne.

Having started initially in IP administration roles, Mark has a solid grounding in IP systems and practices and has gone on to build a very successful career in trade marks.

He advises on complex branding and trade mark issues, and has managed several noteworthy trade mark portfolios for clients including The Just Group and Jaguar Land Rover.

Mark specialises in both contentious and non-contentious trade mark work including trade mark clearance searching, infringement advice, filing and prosecution of trade mark applications, foreign trade mark filing and protection strategies and initiating and defending trade mark opposition and removal actions.

His specialist knowledge and experience in trade mark practice will be incredibly beneficial to our clients as we look to further build our trade mark footprint in the Australian market” says James & Wells Managing Partner, Tim Walden.

Mark is a member of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ), Fellow of the Australian Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys (IPTA) and a member of the Law Institute of Victoria (LIV).
