Experience

Tim joined James & Wells in 1998. He moved to Europe in 2002 where he worked for Ireland’s largest IP firm, dealing with the European Community Trade Mark Office and the International Trade Mark system (Madrid). He returned to New Zealand and to James & Wells in 2004.

Over the last 20 years, Tim has filed a multitude of trade marks in Australia and New Zealand and has worked with many clients, from small start-ups to large overseas corporates. His work managing large business portfolios is particularly noteworthy in the New Zealand market.

Tim has strong relationships with overseas associates and has significant experience in Europe, North America and Asia. His knowledge of the local laws and practices has been invaluable to many clients as they’ve grown and expanded into new markets.

Tim regularly speaks to businesses and groups about how they can protect and leverage their IP. He embodies James & Wells’ mission of championing local innovation and has best recognised in the 13th Edition of the ‘Best Lawyers in New Zealand’ guide.
