Partner Ian Finch crowned one of NZ’s most Influential Lawyers

Ian was nominated in the ’Changemaker’ category, a prestigious recognition that highlights the significant impact Ian has had in the intellectual property profession.

James & Wells founding partner Ceri Wells said: “This award truly recognises Ian’s influential position in the profession. It is fantastic that he has this significant recognition as a changemaker in the legal industry, and we’re incredibly proud of his achievement.”

Ian was the driving force behind the writing and publication of New Zealand’s leading text on intellectual property law, “Intellectual Property Law in New Zealand” (published by Thomson Reuters) which he continually updates as General Editor of the online text. Ian has also made a significant contribution to the education of future members of the profession.

Ian is regularly called on to provide comment and insight on complex IP issues drawing on has extensive experience advising clients in the filing, prosecution, and enforcement of their intellectual property rights at all levels and across a range of industries.
