About Alexia
Alexia is an experienced Australian and New Zealand intellectual property lawyer. Alexia’s practice spans commercial and contentious matters in both jurisdictions.
On the commercial front, Alexia’s expertise includes drafting and advising on a wide range of commercial agreements, conducting IP audits, advising on licensing and commercialisation, advising on trade secrets and non-disclosure, providing strategic IP advice, and advising on regulatory issues relating to pharmaceuticals, medical device, food, clothing and other industry-specific regulations.
On the contentious front, Alexia’s practice includes acting in and resolving disputes relating to patent, trade mark and copyright infringement, misleading and deceptive conduct and passing off, and breach of confidence. Alexia also represents clients in patent and trade mark oppositions.
Alexia is experienced in acting for multi-national corporations in cross-border patent disputes and in pre-grant patent oppositions, with notable examples being acting for Sanofi and Bristol Myers Squibb for more than a decade in patent infringement and revocation proceedings in relation to the blockbuster drug clopidogrel, and acting for Genus plc, Bayer NZ, Elanco and ResMed in various patent matters.
Originally from Australia, Alexia joined James & Wells in 2019. Prior to that, Alexia worked for more than 15 years in the IP and Commercial groups at Allens (a top-tier international law firm), gaining significant experience in Federal Court and High Court proceedings.
She provides clear and pragmatic advice to clients in a wide range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, IT, animal health, food and beverages, clothing, and mining.
Alexia enjoys exploring New Zealand, music, paddle boarding, and spending time with her children.
