James & Wells is delighted to announce that Britta Fromow has joined our firm. Based in Wellington, Fromow has been welcomed into the firm’s growing Mechanical Engineering Team, where she will enhance the already strong James & Wells patent practice.

“Having Britta on board allows James & Wells to better service its clients in the Wellington and Manawatu regions” says Tim Walden, Managing Partner of James & Wells.

“Britta’s practical experience, working in manufacturing and IT for the likes of Carter Holt Harvey Plastics and Cardax International, means she really understands the needs of her clients. With such practical experience, combined with excellent technical knowledge and almost 20 years as a patent attorney, Britta has a lot to offer our clients,” says Walden.

A qualified lawyer and registered patent attorney with a Bachelor of Technology (Hons) in manufacturing and industrial technologies and a Bachelor of Laws, Fromow specialises in mechanical engineering, electronics, medical devices, and agri-technologies. She has significant experience in patent drafting, prosecution, advising on freedom to operate, and handling registered designs.

Fromow, who resigned as a partner at Catalyst IP to join James & Wells, comments – “I am excited to now be part of a large full-service independent intellectual property firm, that will enable me to offer my clients an extraordinary depth of IP related support and expertise”.

“I love the James & Wells ‘Champions of Innovation’ ethos”, says Britta. “Being part of a firm that has connections to the right people, funding and investment opportunities, and offers legal and IP support, means that I am perfectly positioned to deliver pragmatic advice and services that will help my clients succeed and grow.”

James & Wells’ expansion in Wellington follows the firm’s recent acquisition of intellectual property firm, Innofy IP in Brisbane, Australia.
